WellyWalk aims to support those affected by childhood cancer from the child and family’s perspective, to create an easy access forum,

  • Family perspective feedback available for Hospital and Doctors Surgeries during in house training
  • Educational visits to schools and nurseries linked to PSHE and fund raising events
  • Community links
  • Linked visits with Outreach practitioners
  • Parent Committee meetings to include informal family forum get together to include those bereaved as well as those still undergoing or completed treatment
  • One to one family visits linked to counselling support
  • Parent Committee meetings to be followed by informal get together to include those bereaved as well as those still undergoing or completed treatment
  • Achieve an increase in the 'connections' available to parents through formalised parent introductions and online forum
  • One to one family visits available linked to counselling support
  • Parent Committee members to attend on request other parent forums to provide family focused feedback to established medical and charitable organisations

and connect existing organisations,

  • Achieve an increase in the ‘connections’ available to parents through formalised parent introductions and online forum
  • Provide a Forum for feedback from the family perspective to complement existing support resources
  • Raise awareness of children’s palliative care
  • Be a conduit to a more inclusive environment; connecting medical support, palliative care, social and charitable aspects and family needs
  • Interlink established medical and charitable organisations

to enable us to better support the people we care about.

  • Everyone affected by childhood cancer, whether it be other families, connected individuals or groups, such as children’s friends or teachers often want to ask questions (without the risk or fear of creating additional upset)
  • This will now be an option from the family perspective from people who have already lived and coped with the effect of childhood cancer (at whatever stage) complimenting those sources already available because of medical and charitable support.
